Yumm-O!

I Love the Japanese ginger salad dressing at the local sushi restaurant and this is one of my favorite dressings but I find it too expensive to buy it straight from the store(I'm a poor med student, please give me a break!) So, I decided to research the internet and figure out this recipe. Well guess what? I found a great recipe but I added more ginger, onions, ketchup and sugar. The more I added all of these ingredients, the more my dressing came out as the duplicate version of the dressing at the store.

I
'
m proud of myself, my first time creating this recipe and it came out just like the store-kind. After I made the dressing I decided to crab some Bible Bread and spread a spoon of tuna salad on top of it. with milk goat cheese. This was my lunch yesterday and it was Yumm-O!

Stuffed Zucchinis

Today, I made stuffed Zucchinis after viewing this blog. Instead of using old cheese I used the normal sand which cheese and it turned out great.

I also added salt to give it more of a taste and so far everyone has loved it. Including my 3 year old cousin Luke.

My new Favorite Item

Summer has arrived and as a Brown girl I try to avoid the sun because I do not want to get darker(It's an Indian thing, trust me it is.) Usually I wear sunblock during the summer but I found the Aveeno SPF 15 lotion at the local store and I am now in love. What I love about this lotion is that I can just put it on once and it moisturizers my body for the whole day! How fabulous is that?!

Red Cactus Cathy!

A couple of years ago I was at the Home Depot with my mother and left with a yellow cactus. I made up my mind that I was going to care for this cactus like no other. Well guess what? I killed the cactus. I watered it too much in the true style of the Brownster. Friends and family were not surprised to learn that I killed my yellow cactus but I'm sure they're going to believe I am one hec of a hoot for buying another cactus. My friend Emily told me I should name my cactus Cathy and I thought it fit perfect so let me introduce everyone to My Red Cactus Cathy.

Ginger Steak Salad

So I decided to create a nice simple salad when I came across this wonderful cooking blog that has a recipe for a Ginger Steak Salad. Here's the funny part, I had every single ingredient that this recipe needed in my kitchen! I even found several different kinds of cooking oil in my pantry such as peanut oil, grape seed oil, corn oil, sesame oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil, and many more.

Anyhow, back to my story. I made this salad and it is one amazing summer salad. You can taste the ginger, the garlic and the sweetness of the steak. If you're a fan of Ginger, you my friend should give this try.

My First love...Brownies.

Brownies, Brownies and Brownies. What more can I say? I made Chocolate fudge brownies today with nuts, peanut butter and semi sweet chocolate mini kisses. My little cousins had a fest and I sat back with delight as they ate the brownies. Oh, how I wish I were a child again.

Carmel Custard

She was in pigtails and merely 9 years old running to the fridge that Sunday afternoon with a one track mind. Still dressed in her Morning church outfit she didn't think twice to change but wanted that Caramel Custard so bad. The night before she went to bed, she was in a Wendy nightgown and watched her mother create the wonderful yummy Caramel Custard that she loved so dearly. She went to bed in excitement and the next day after church she ran towards the fridge to get a bite of that custard she's been craving all night long.

As she was running towards the fridge she was picked up by her father who told her she had to eat lunch before having any desert. She ate her lunch as fast as she could(something she would often do if Caramel custard was the desert) and when she grabbed her spoon to eat the custard her older brother grabbed the custard away to tease her. As soon as she grabbed the custard and even though her brother ate half of the custard, she took one gulp of the custard and sat there in amazement and in pure satisfaction.

As the years went by she would forget about that jolly feeling of the Caramel Custard she would eat as a child in India and even wondered till recently if she'll get that "pure satisfaction" again, well she did. As she created the Caramel Custard and let her little cousins(ages 3&5) take the first bite out of the custard she saw the twinkle in their eye that was once in her eyes when she ate the Custard...oh the Joys of being a Child.

Tiffany Blue Cupcakes!

My mother threw a party on Mothers day and since we have our little cousins staying with us, I decided to make cupcakes as the desert. I made Vanilla Cupcakes with Tiffany Blue icing and used the pearl sprinkles for the adults while I used the normal sprinkles for the kids to eat.

Those who know me understands how much I love presentations so when I was at Michaels I came across these beautiful Cupcake boxes and immediately thought after the partiers eat lunch they might be too full and I can just pack the cupcakes in the boxes so they can take them home. As the party was in process I decided to hand out the cupcakes and then people were starting to tell me that they were full and that's when the cupcake boxes came in handy! I placed the cupcakes in the boxes and right before the partiers left I made sure to hand them the cupcake boxes and they simply adored it!

Brownie's New Book

So I'm at the local store today trying to buy some baking items and while I was shopping, I came across this book called The Chocolate Connoisseur by Chloe' Doutre-Roussel. As a sucker for the color pink I saw this book and since I love chocolate I figure I would give it a try. I read a couple of pages at the store and so far I love the book. When I got home I went on amazon to see what the reviews were and they were mixed. I believe anyone who loves Chocolate should give this book a try, especially girls who are drawn to anything Pink.

Here's the link to the Amazon page of this wonderful book in case you want more details.

Embellished Tights

I've been glued to embellished tights thanks to the past runway shows from this past fall. From Zac Posen to Miu Miu I have seen these everywhere on the runway. I decided to create my own embellished tights that scream out my name when people see them but since school makes up my life I haven't had enough time till recently... I went to the local store and bought a pair of black tights, sequenced jewels, fabric glue, and bows made out of ribbons. After gluing the jewels to the tights I glued the bows on the side of the tights(a little bit above the ankle) and it turned out to be fabulous. It took me about 2 days to complete this look due to me studying and being busy with school.
Today I wore my tights and so far I'm proud of how the they came out.
