Untitled for Yourself.

Being a 20 something year old you never think that one day you'll be 30 or even 40. You don't think that one day life will catch up to you. Especially when you have the whole world at the tip of your finger tips, you're as free & wild as a bird flying through life trying to figure out who you are as an exact person.

If you're a typical 20 something year old female, your life consists of your friends, your parents(who you just realized are the best people on earth regardless how imperfect they are), parties and constant net working. You're also use to hearing about your girlfriends talk about which loser they're dating while you scratch your head and go "IS SHE LISTENING TO HERSELF?" Okay, no maybe that's just me. If there's one thing I learned about friendships it's that friends tell you things you don't want to hear and things that are the truth. They're so honest with you, they just tell you how it is whether you like to hear it or not. If you don't even listen to their advice you still think about it before you make a move. Ladies & Gentlemen that's what friendships are all about.

When we think of being 40 we cringe and have this fear that life is over. No one ever tells us that there is life after 40. No one ever tells us that wrinkles can be pretty or no one pays attention to you. I believe, we live in a society where vanity is awesome. Where women who grew up watching Disney princess cartoon movies believe that one day they'll find their prince charming and that they'll live happily ever after. I once got told that marriage is when the husband puts rose petals on the bed and the wife asks "Who's going to CLEAN that up?", see that's Reality. No one ever says "Hey your looks are going to fade when you're over 30", how many people have told good looking girls that? I got told that plenty of times because I have 2 older brothers who always had to tease their sister.

Now, I'm not saying women can be dull after 40 because that's not true. I'm saying if we glamorized our brains more and not focus too much on looks it wouldn't cause pain at the end. On this blog Formely Hot it's focus's on middle aged women who have come to the realization, that they're not 25 anymore and life has taken it's course. It's also telling young women that life is great when you're middle aged and that you switched your Saturday night partying for your 16 year old's HS play. I believe we need more older women to speak out to the younger girls so that they can let them know that life isn't all about looks but it's always about your inner self. Once young females believe in their heart that life isn't a fairy tale(or like Sex & the City) then they'll wake up and realize that life is what you make it and that you have the key to your destiny.

60th bday bash

I know I haven't blogged in over a year! I know, I'm a slow poke. I'm a med student so I've been extremely busy. Now enough of that. Last weekend was my moms BFF's 60th birthday and I had a blast! I met my moms friends grand daughter who's name is Chanel and I absolutely adored her!
What was amazing about the party was the food and the Bollywood movies playing in the back ground. It was fun, flirty and awesome all wrapped in one.
The exciting part of the night was when the food was brought in. I had vegetable Samosa and it was yummylicious.

Apparently, you can make beef or veggie but in this dish it was fresh veggies inside wrapped in a thin sliced of bread and deep fried. It was one of the best appetizers I've ever had.

After the appetizers they served biryani which was simply amazing. The only thing you had to worry about was the peppers....those peppers are a killer!
After my moms friend opened her presents and all the guests left it was nice to sit back and just relax with my moms friend and her family. Just to see the glimpse of my mother's world was very heart warming. I hope to do it again in the future.

Brownie's 24th Bday

Yes, that is me drinking champagne out of a straw because I didn't want to mess up my lipstick. This was on my 24th bday bash.

I usually never post about my private life. I feel like th
ere is no need to. Why should I? My blog is about Food, Fashion and medicine. This past week was my bday. I turned 24 on Nov. 4th and my friends and family made it a wonderful night for me to celebrate!

I got a dress from Tatyana Merenyuk at Red Doll. What I love about this designer is that each collection she puts out and if you want to purchase something from you she will communicate with you. She makes her dresses according to your measurements!! I also loved her customer service, she responded to every email I sent within an hour and she is so sweet. The dress came in a clear bag with a red ribbon wrapped around it and the red doll icon sticking out. It was beautiful and it made me not even want to open the dress in but then I thought OH MY GOODNESS ITS THE DRESS I HAVE TO OPEN IT! The dress even came out with a lovely personalized card from the wonderful designer Tatyana. Ahhhh I was and still am in heaven when I think about it. My little cousin Luke helped me open the bag and oh my it is beautiful and stunning.

On my special day this dress made me feel extra special. Women, Girls, Men and boys all loved this dress....Thanks to all my family and friends who made my bday night special. You're the best!

Happy Bday Amber!

The 31st was my friend Amber's birthday so Luke and I took her out to eat sushi. We went to the wonderful restaurant Tokyo in OKC and like always that place never failed me! It was Ambers first time at Tokyo and she loved it as well.I ordered Luke the kids plate and it had one side of Tempora, Chicken Teriyaki with Rice on the bottom and for desert they included a side piece of CAKE! It was beautifully given to us like a basket with a lid which we all loved. Everyone sitting next to us loved the Food given to Luke(Who actually goes there and orders the Kid sections if you"re an adult?)Right after Luke finished his food he decided to go after Amber's cake. Amber let Luke do whatever he wanted with her desert and while she laughed so hard watching Luke eat the desert. Either way I'm glad Amber enjoyed dinner...Happy Birthday Ammmmber!

Favorite Dish. Lobby Bar.

Look, I love the lobby bar for several reasons. Let me list them, it's the Service, the Food, The atmosphere and every time I leave the lobby bar I leave as a full satisfied customer. Will Rogers would be very proud of what the owners of the Lobby Bar did to that Theater.

Every time I'm at the Lobby Bar I order a fillet with sauce(I'm too busy eating to ask what's in it) that has capers in it. I also order a house salad with Japanese dressing and I just love to eat it all up!

This is one dish I will never take home because I will finish it in an hour or so. You see, I eat in a French manner. I eat in small portions and I like to take my time to eat. It's how I was raised and so far it has stuck with me into adult-hood(23 is adult hood, right?) Whenever I go out to eat I always take a "to go" box because after a while I get full and take it home. If I'm with friends they yell out on who gets first dibs. I must admit, it is entertaining to see the people around me yell "Pass that over here!" I really believe Friends were put on earth because God wants us to know that we will always be taken care of. Either way, if you are ever in OKC you must definetly go to the Lobby Bar. That place is a must and sometimes they even have jazz bands that play. You can eat your food and listen to wonderful music that will take you back to New Orleans.

Happy Hour Fooood!

Yesterday, I met my friend Kat for Happy Hour at a place called Red-Prime Steakhouse and let me tell you, it was fabulous. Although, the bartenders were pretty crappy the food over-all place was great. If I were to go there again I wouldn't sit at the bar but instead I would sit at a table.
Right when I got there I ordered a Flirtini which was simply amazing. One thing I love about Red Prime is the atmosphere and the beautiful shades of Red coming out of the windows, and the ceilings. It gives you that upper NYC feeling that you just love to have at times.
My good friend Russell works at Red-Prime and he brought us a cow tongue appetizer. It was yummy and I never had cow tongue before. One thing I noticed about cow tongue is that it tastes like Liver. The cow tongue had a beautiful sauce and it was topped of with lettuce I believe. It was okay but it wasn't bad. It was right in the middle. For now, I will pass on anything that is affiliated with Cow-tongue. I need to let my tongue breathe. After I tried the cow tongue I decided to eat normal American Food. I got a bean salad which was topped off with peacons and it made my mouth drizzle. This salad was fabulous.
After the salad I ordered a sirloin steak and boy was it YUMMO!! I had Idaho fries on the side and just looking it made my heart beat so fast I felt like I just ran a marathon. The steak and fries were cooked in perfection and I had no complaints about it.

For desert I ordered a Strawberry Shortcake. I'm the type of person where I cannot stand strawberrys unless it is the fruit itself but this desert was just the pure definition of love, sweet and Perfection. If you are ever in OKC please try the Red-Prime steakhouse although avoid going to the bar unless you want crappy service.

Oklahoma Sushi

There is a hot spot sushi restaurant in OKC called Sushi Neko. I went there last week and ordered a house salad with Japanese dressing(as you know I love this stuff.) I simply LOVE their salad and included in it is cucumbers, baby tomatoes, and carrots. Just looking at it makes me fall in love with it over and over again.

After salad, I ordered a Zebra roll that had eel and cream cheese on it.
Then I ordered the famous Red Canyon. It has crawfish and Japaanese Mayo on it. The rolls are baked and they top it with the delicious orange-red sauce and just eating it makes me feel like I'm in heaven.
If you're a sushi addict and you're in OKC please go to Sushi Neko...their sushi is one of the best in the City of Oklahoma.

Coooking Dinner!

A couple of days ago I cooked dinner for my lovely friend Kat. I call her Kitty Kat Kitten, anyhow I decided to create a simple salad, shrimp scampi with pasta and for desert cinnamon rolls.

Since it was my first time to cook for a dear friend I even created a menu which created a good laugh for Kat. For the menu I simple used one authentic name which was Shrimp Scampi with Pasta. For the salad I called it "The Brownie Salad" and for the desert I called it "Kitty's Cinnabon Swirls." Kat loved it, just seeing the smile on her face made it all worth it to me!
It was nice to sit back and cook dinner for my friend. We laughed till all hours of the night and enjoyed each others company.
My camera wasn't working properly so the pictures didn't turn out that great. I was dissapointed in myself but I can clearly do it again another time. I also forgot to take pictures of the cinnamon buns! UGH! Stupid Brownie! Please forgive me this time. I hope to cook again with various friends. I figure, why not? This is pretty neat.

Classic Indian Tea

As a child, I remember leaving good ol Oklahoma and moving to India not knowing what this country consisted of. One of my fondest memory of growing up in India is when my brothers and I would be in our front yard playing cricket while my mother looked on drinking her tea. Indians are just like the British...they must have their tea every day around 4 or 5 PM. It's a way of life.

What I love about this classic tea is that it's so simple and time less. It's like a little black d
ress that never goes out of style. All you need is Taj Mahal Tea, Water, and milk to make this classic tea and its fabulous. Every time I drink this certain type of tea it brings back memories of growing up southern India; where as a little kid I would look up to the sky and instead of seeing the blue skys I would see the green coconut tree leaves move according to where the wind blew. Ahhh, those were the days of pure Simplicity.

Cookies for kids!

This morning, I headed over to church and to my surprise after church the Ladies working with the little kids had a bunch of cookies and were handing it out to the adults. I quickly grabbed 2 cookie goody bags, one for myself and one for my little cousin Luke. I quickly fell in love with how simply and yet how elegant the goody bag looked. In the clear goody bag was 2 chocolate chip cookies and 4 mini tootsie rolls all wrapped in Green and Pink strings. Oh my! How creative and yet SO simple!

Majority of the time my mind is racing like a 4 year old child having a sugar high so I never have time to sit back and think about the small elegant things that can come out fabulous. After viewing the goody bag I felt happy and joyful. Ahhh cookies, who doesn't love cookies in a goody bag? I know, I do :)

Oh I'm so Healthy!

A late night supper. Yup, it's what I choose to eat when all the restaurants are closed and the only thing available are fast-food joints. Yes, this is a heart attack waiting to happen but what American hasn't ate a burger? I love burgers, they're my all time favorite foods and I will chew one down like a fat kid in a cupcake store. If there's one thing I love to order at Mcdonalds its the big mac, fries and a medium Sprite. While I was chewing this down I wasn't counting the calories but instead I was simply enjoying the Mcdonald's classic burger. Oh how Yummo!

New Love: Ion Silk Drops

Right before this summer started I walked into Sallys Beauty store because I wanted my hair to be shiny and healthy. I looked around the store and ended up getting some lame-hair frizz then a Cougar working there saw what I had in my hand and told me to use Ion Silk Drops because that is the best the store has. She told me she has used everything and this is the only product that never let her down. I wanted to believe her but I thought to myself "What the heck? It's under 10 bucks so why not?" Well, I did buy it and
I LOVE this stuff.
I use a dime size right after I take a shower and it leaves my hair shiny, healthy, and very textured. This product has been added to my Loves. I love, LOVE it.

My Favorite Salad.

One of my favorite spots to eat great food and drink fine wine is a placed here in OKC called The Lobby Bar. This restaurant/bar has a great setting(even has a patio!) deserts, cheese and amazing Salads! What's also wonderful about the Lobby bar is that it use to be Will's Theatre and they have a seperate room from the bar/resturant where people will have wedding receptions, parties, galas and anything you want it to be.

They have limited edition foods, well that's what I call it. I believe in resturant terms it is called "A special." Whatever "Special" they have going on you must try it because it is fabulous. You will fall in love with it then it will get taken off the market because of some unknown reasons to me. I don't wanna know, I usually get upset when they do take out their specials out of the menus and internally I weep and cry.

I love their house salad with the Japanese salad dressing, something about the leaves they choose and the dressing mix together like a fancy businessman drinking his Lager Bier.

If you are ever in OKC, please make a pit stop at the Lobby bar on Western Ave. You will not be dissapointed.

Car-Wreck

Hello all,
I haven't been posting because about 2 months ago I got into a wreck. An old guy in a hummer ran into me but I'm alive! whoo hoo! I'm currently in physical therapy to get better. I haven't been cooking, baking or doing anything because my school started and I have been concentrating on getting myself healthy. I don't want to be in pain 20 years from now because of this wreck so I am taking it slow and getting back to being Healthy! Hope you all are doing well and always remember to wear your seat-belt...It saved my life.

Buddy Holly Nerd Glasses

Nerd Glasses have been in style for awhile now and the other day I went to Blue7 and bought me a pair of Nerd Glasses. Later that day I met up with my friend Kelly and she loved my pair of nerd glasses. People at the Red Rooster were telling me how great nerd glasses are and I simply adore these pair of glasses! Nerd glasses are in and you must go out and get yourself a pair!

Indian food.

So I went to the store to buy ingredients for Shrimp Scampi and when I got home I was tired so my mother decided to make Shrimp-stir fry with rice.

This is how she created this yummy meal.
1. My mom warmed up the canola oil in a skillet.
2. Then she added mustard seed then waited till it popped.
3. After it popped she added sliced onions then started sauteing them
4. In the middle of sauteing them she added turmeric powder and salt.
5. Then she added in sliced potatoes and summer squash with a dash of black pepper.
6. At last she added the cooked shrimp and mixed it all up. In the end it was beautiful!

It took her under 30 minutes to cook this deliciously meal and it was Yummo! I love my mother's cooking, yes my mom can out cook your mother.

Pink Headbands.

Pink, Pink and pink the color I adore. Since, I was a little girl I loved pink and my love for pink has never stopped. My bathroom in India is pink and my love for pink has grown over the years. I figure, once I'm over 30 I'm going to tone down the color pink and exchange it for something new. Till then, I'm going to enjoy this beautiful color.
I was at Target today and came across this beautiful head-band. It reminded me the days of being a little girl and wearing bows that my mother bought. My mom had great style back in the day, she knew how to dress me and even now she knows what to get me. Now back to the story. While at Target, the pink head-band just caught my eye so then I tried it on(yes, I tried it on at the store...GASP!) then I decided this head-band is a must have but there was one problem. The head-band didn't have a tag on it! I immediately went to the customer service desk and told them that I loved this head-band and it had no tag :( The girl working behind the desk told me it's on clearance for $1.99 and I just had the biggest smile. I knew what the fat kid at the Cup-cake store really felt when his/her mommy said "its okay hunny, choose whatever you want." I mean...it made me really happy.

I decided to include a couple of pink items I have, this is not all of it but this is just 5% of the pink I currently have. :)

Barbie Cupcake!

My friend Kelly went to the Barbie convention last week and when she arrived there they gave everyone The "Barbie Cupcake." She immediately posted it on her twitter to show me(I vicariously lived through her that week because I love Barbie) and I just fell in love.

Kells told me the cupcake was splendid and she loved every minute of the Barbie Convention. She even saw Barbie Louboutins...which I must admit, I adore. :)
